Adaptive Kickboxing Fusion with Kay
Non-contact - adaptable to your ability
Service Description
Did you ever wish you could take a kickboxing class for stress reduction and aerobic benefits, but one or more painful body parts are holding you back? This class is an accessible, non-contact kickboxing class that adapts to your body, in a comfortable, non-judgmental but encouraging environment! Whether new to kickboxing or experienced, adaptive drill options will be offered so you can get a great workout regardless of where you are on your physical journey. The class also includes elements of the clinically studied Parkinson's Boxing program that improved balance and gait in Parkinson's patients and slowed disease progression by promoting neurological changes in the brain. Kickboxing can improve strength, confidence, balance, gait, cognitive processing, and hand-eye coordination. The physical and neurological changes may be beneficial to stroke recovery, to ward off typical mental decline as we age, and can push you beyond your expectations! If you have a medical condition, consult with a healthcare professional to determine if kickboxing is suitable for your specific needs, and follow all safety recommendations. Students must be able to walk, but chair option drills will be provided. MEET THE INSTRUCTOR: Kay Losciuto is a 5th degree black belt with 50 years of Okinawan karate experience, and has also been certified in Power Point Control Tactic's (PPCT) Women's self-defense program. PPCT was the largest use-of-force training company in the US. Kay is also Reiki practitioner and is certified to teach the University of Massachusetts Medical School Center for Mindfulness program. MBSR is the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program that was initiated in 1979 for chronic pain patients. Kay has a chemistry background, and after 25 years working in human pharmaceuticals, has recently retired from her position as Director of CMC Regulatory Affairs at Virbac Animal Health.
